Open House Launches Central Avenue Redevelopment Process
The City of Thunder Bay hosted its first open house on the Central Avenue Development Lands project, inviting residents to help shape how 100 acres between Golf Links Road and Balmoral Street could be developed. Staff presented early concept maps and asked the public to weigh in on neighbourhood design, land use, transportation connections, and future housing options.
Some homeowners at the event said they were nervous about how construction could affect their properties, including concerns about increased traffic and noise. City staff say this is the first step in a longer planning process, with feedback from the open house helping to guide a draft preferred development plan expected later this summer.
