$10.7M allocated for Thunder Bay housing projects
Thunder Bay has been allocated $10.7 million in provincial funding to expand local housing and homelessness supports, including 40 new low-barrier shelter beds, 80 temporary shelter village spaces, and more than 60 transitional housing units across the city. The announcement at Grace Place outlined five funded projects aimed at stabilizing the community while long-term housing is built.
City leaders, agency partners, and provincial officials spoke about the impact of the funding, the role of the temporary shelter village, and the ongoing need for mental health and addictions supports.
