New Program Helps Women Break Barriers in Sault Skilled Trades
Women in Sault Ste. Marie are stepping into high-demand skilled trades — and a local program is helping them build confidence, find mentorship, and navigate a field where they’re often the only woman on the job.
At the Sault Community Career Centre, the Supporting Women in Skilled Trades initiative offers personalized guidance, barrier-removal, and a community of apprentices who are carving out space in male-dominated workplaces.
Participants say the support helps them stay motivated, advocate for themselves, and see a clear path forward in their trade.
