Winter Parking Restrictions Now in Effect in Sault Ste. Marie
The City of Sault Ste. Marie is reminding motorists that winter parking restrictions are now in effect, with an overnight street parking ban running from November 1 through April 30.
Under the city's bylaw, vehicles cannot be parked on city streets between midnight and 6 a.m., even when there is no snow on the ground. Sault Police and special constables with Norpro Security will be monitoring and enforcing the restrictions, with drivers potentially facing tickets or having their vehicles towed if they interfere with public works operations.
The city is also reminding residents about other parking regulations, including restrictions on downtown overnight parking, keeping sidewalks and fire routes clear, and avoiding parking near fire hydrants.
Motorists are encouraged to review the rules and help keep Sault Ste. Marie's streets safe and accessible throughout the winter.
