Sault Police Warn Residents About Multiple Scams
Sault Ste. Marie Police are warning residents about several scams targeting people in the community.
Recent fraud alerts include scammers posing as cellphone service providers, grandparent scams targeting seniors, and potential driveway resurfacing scams involving unsolicited offers at the door.
Police say a common warning sign is pressure to act quickly. Residents are encouraged to slow down, independently verify who they are dealing with, and avoid providing personal information, security codes or large upfront payments.
Anyone who suspects they have encountered fraud can contact Sault Ste. Marie Police at 705-949-6300 or report the incident to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
