Indigenous Friendship Centre Celebrates 53 Years of Community Impact
The Indigenous Friendship Centre of Sault Ste. Marie marked a major milestone at its 53rd Annual General Meeting, celebrating years of growth, community impact, and a strong future ahead. Funding has been secured for at least the next five years, ensuring vital programs and services for the urban Indigenous community can continue uninterrupted. Community members shared inspiring stories of recovery, education, mental health improvements, and cultural reconnection through the Friendship Centre's programs. The organization also announced progress on its upcoming Men's Healing Centre, expected to open later this year. A new Board of Directors was selected, including returning members and new leadership committed to continuing the Friendship Centre's legacy of support and advocacy.
