Sault Cyclist Joel Wenham Conquers Greece's Hellenic Mountain Race
The Sault’s cycling community celebrates Joel Wenham as he is returned home from competing in the Hellenic Mountain Race in Greece. Joel and his single speed bike raced over 900km through the mountains of Greece over a 4 Day, 9 Hour and 16 Minutes period, to end up as the first Canadian finisher. Joel placed 10th overall out of 196 competitors placing him among the top elite endurance athletes in the game. Joel's performance on an international stage highlights the strength of cycling talent coming out of Sault Ste. Marie and demonstrates how Northern Ontario's year-round riding culture can prepare athletes to compete against the best in the world.
