Our Kids Count Set to Open New Food Service Facility in Thunder Bay, ON
Families in Thunder Bay are feeling the pressure as food and housing costs continue to rise — and Our Kids Count is stepping up in a big way. The organization is transforming the former Circle K on McKenzie Street into a new community hub that will house community meals, an emergency food cupboard, accessible kitchen space, and walk-in counselling.
Executive Director Jackie Knough shares how the expansion began, why the need is growing, and how community partners have helped raise more than $1 million toward a $2.7-million capital campaign. The new facility is expected to open in May.
