Residents raised concerns and asked questions at a TNRD public meeting held on November 10 at the Savona Community Hall. Representatives from CPKC, local authorities, and multiple agencies attended to provide updates and answer questions from the community.
The derailment occurred on November 1, approximately 20 kilometres west of Kamloops near Cherry Creek. An estimated 70,000 litres of aviation fuel were spilled into the environment.
Cleanup efforts and emergency response actions began within an hour of the derailment and continue as officials work to assess environmental impacts and next steps.
