There was a bigger turnout than expected last Saturday, March 7, for InspireHealth’s biggest fundraiser of the year, the Rain Walk, and the first one held in Kamloops. Thanks to years of advocacy and community collaboration, culminating in a one million dollar donation from the Pink Ribbon Charity Ball founded by Anthony Salituro, the non profit cancer supportive care centre opened its doors earlier this year. This comes eight years after the idea was born from a conversation between Leslie Brochu, Chair of the Kamloops Cancer Supportive Care Society, and cancer patient and advocate Ann McCarthy. The Rain Walk raises funds to support InspireHealth’s free programs and services for people affected by cancer.
