New Outdoor Skating Rink Opens at Riverside Park in Kamloops
The City of Kamloops has officially opened a new outdoor skating rink at Riverside Park in downtown Kamloops. The refrigerated ice surface is designed to maintain consistent skating conditions throughout the winter season, typically from December through March, weather permitting. The rink is free to use and open daily to the public, providing a new seasonal recreation option along the Thompson River. The project is part of the Riverside Park Improvement Project, which began in 2021, and was funded through a $1.17 million Growing Communities Fund grant from the Province of British Columbia. City officials say the idea for an outdoor skating rink in Riverside Park was first proposed in 2016, with years of planning leading to its completion.
