Step Back in Time at the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site
Step into the heart of Sault Ste. Marie’s history at the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site. This treasured landmark invites you to explore two of the city’s oldest stone buildings — the Ermatinger Old Stone House (built between 1814–1823) and the Clergue Blockhouse, home of early industrialist Francis H. Clergue. Together, they tell the story of over 200 years of local heritage, from the fur trade and early settlement to the rise of modern industry in Northern Ontario.
