Simcoe County Museum Virtual Speaker Series- Richard Pierpoint: Freedom Fighter

Richard Pierpoint was African and one of Upper Canada’s earliest settlers. He survived the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and twenty years of enslavement. The story of his life and times answers questions and challenges assumptions about Ontario’s history.

The museum boasts over 30,000 artifacts, five galleries, and 16 heritage buildings on 325 acres of County Forest. Thanks to a generous bequest from Charles Matthews, a new 10,000 square foot expansion will open by 2030, featuring the Charles Matthews Automotive and Innovations Gallery.
