New Society Moves to Level 3 Testing in Response to Blue-Green Algae at Nicola Lake
A dedicated and competent group of local volunteers has come together to form a new society in response to intensifying blue-green algae blooms at Nicola Lake near Merritt, B.C.
With strong community support, the Ministry has now elevated testing to Level 3. The Guardians of Nicola Lake and Watershed will conduct bi-weekly nutrient testing, sharing results with the Ministry to help understand and address the growing issue.
This is a fully volunteer-led initiative focused on protecting the lake and its future.
