First on the Scene: How Volunteer Crews Can Make a Difference in Wildfire Response
On June 30th, 2025 — exactly four years after the devastating Lytton Creek Wildfire — flames once again threatened the Lytton area. This time, the Nikia Creek Wildfire ignited on the Westside, just across the river from the town. But before official crews could arrive, it was local volunteers and members of the Lytton First Nation who were first on the scene.
