Unfolding – Tricia Sellmer’s Personal and Artistic Journey

This video explores Unfolding, a powerful new exhibition by Kamloops-based artist Tricia Sellmer, composed of eleven vibrant paintings. Organized into four chronological movements—much like a musical score—this body of work reflects the dynamic evolution of her artistic voice, inspired by the emotive sounds of classical music.

Tricia’s journey began in 1992, when she made the bold decision to return to school in her mid-thirties. Having worked as a teacher and homemaker, going back to pursue her art was an unusual step at the time—especially for women—but with the full support of her husband, she took the leap. That choice opened a new world of expression and possibility, one that would lead to decades of creative exploration and professional achievement.

Unfolding captures that journey—personal and artistic—as a rich visual narrative, one brushstroke at a time.
