Local Advocacy Group Backs Stronger Deepfake Protections
A local women’s advocacy group is backing changes to a crime bill that will protect victims of sexually explicit deepfakes.
Amendments to Bill C-16, which was championed by MP Andrew Lawton of Elgin-St. Thomas-London South, tackle gaps in existing law and advances in technology that are harming victims with a focus on 'nearly nude' and non-consensual images.
