Ontario Allowing Pharmacists to do More
Ontario is expanding what pharmacists can do, in a move aimed at improving access to care and easing pressure on a strained health-care system.
Starting in July, pharmacists across the province will be able to administer six additional publicly funded vaccines — tetanus, pertussis, diphtheria, pneumococcal, RSV and shingles — and assess and prescribe treatment for nine more common ailments, including calluses and corns, dandruff, dry eye, head lice, jock itch, mild headache, nasal congestion, ringworm and warts.
