Gateway to Yarmouth Yards Gets New Sculpture
The gateway to Yarmouth Yards industrial park has gotten more colourful. Commissioned by the City of St. Thomas, a 25-foot sculptural reinterpretation of a wooden toy train called Imagination Station has been installed. The monument was created by Canadian artist Briony Douglas, her first permanent municipal public artwork.
Douglas’ previous work has amassed her 130,000 followers on Instagram and millions of views on Tiktok, creating for brands like Boots and Hearts, the PWHL, and the Hockey Hall of Fame. That caught the attention of the St. Thomas Economic Development Corporation, who worked closely on the project that took a year and a half in the planning and building.
