South Vancouver Island Powwow 2026
The Songhees Nation, with support from the City of Victoria, hosted the fifth annual South Island Powwow at Royal Athletic Park on Wednesday September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The free event honoured residential and day school survivors, Sixties Scoop survivors and the children who never returned home from these residential school systems.
Indigenous song, dance, drumming, storytelling and cultural performances were featured alongside more than 90 vendors, including 72 Indigenous merchants.
The gathering welcomed around 20 000 people of all ages to celebrate Indigenous culture and resilience while fostering learning, healing and stronger relationships between communities.
