Election Slate Raises Concerns in Nanaimo
A Vancouver Island University professor is raising concerns about the potential impact of slate voting in Nanaimo's upcoming municipal election. While slates are uncommon in B.C. municipal politics, experts say electing a large number of candidates from a single slate could affect council accountability and independent decision-making.
With 40 candidates running for council, voters are being encouraged to research individual candidates and understand the implications of supporting a full slate before casting their ballots.
