What's Up Oxford

16 days of activism against gender based violence - DART Oxford

Shine the Light Campaign: Many local organizations are participating in our Shine the Light campaign by lighting the exterior of their buildings purple from November 25th through December 10th. In addition, several organizations are engaging in activities such as wearing purple on November 25th, baking purple treats, and distributing campaign materials. These efforts are a powerful way to visually support survivors and raise awareness within our community.

December 6th Vigil: On December 6th, at 5:30 pm, we will hold a candlelight vigil at the courthouse (415 Hunter Street) in remembrance of the women whose lives were lost in the tragic Montreal Massacre of December 6th, 1989. This vigil is a time to honor and reflect and continue the call to action against gender-based violence. Please join us to show your support for survivors and our collective hope for a future free from violence.

Additional Ways to Participate: We encourage you to come to those events for which you are available, print and hang our attached event posters (for the vigil, flag raising, and Shine the Light campaign) within your organization, or share them via email to help spread the word."
