Medicine Hat School Division Considers Closing Two Elementary Schools Amid Declining Enrolments
The Medicine Hat Public School Division is proposing to close Southview Community School and Webster Niblock School due to declining enrollment.
Board Chair Catherine Wilson says the goal is to consolidate resources for better management and efficiency. Public consultations are scheduled for the first week of December, and families are encouraged to register on the division’s website and attend engagement meetings.
Some parents say the decision will be difficult as students have strong ties to their schools.
